More Car Wars (or Axles and Alloys or Dark Future or Outriders...

I finished up a some more cars for my PA car combat games. These are the smaller 1/64 or hot wheels scale.

This last one is the car that came in the Mad Max Xbox one game. It's got new wheels, a lift on the back and a repaint.
Thanks for looking!

Double Trouble and bikers

Double Trouble, two buggies in 1/64 scale, painted up not at all like the ones in that really bad movie from which they modeled.

These three bikes are for my bigger scaled 28 mm games.

I really liked how the blue one came out, but as usual it was my least favorite when I stated building these.

Here they are harassing a poor duelist on a courier mission.

Car Wars in 1/64

As I mentioned in this post , I was bit by the Mad Max bug and have been sucked into the world of Hot Wheels conversions. Now, I'm not giving up my 28mm scale Car Wars. I am adding in another (sigh) layer of my hobby. So here are my first attempts.

The left one is a popular Hot Wheels car with the hittle rack removed and some Epic 40k bits put in its place. (My kids call them hittles, not missles. If you say you are shooting your missles, they will miss.) The right car is stock except for the paintjob and a piece of card to cover a keyhole launcher in the back.

These are Hot Wheels motorcyles thar are actually in 1/64 scale, unlike the ones that come in the blister pack. I don't know alot about them because i got them from a thrift store. The rear tire was a magnet. I guess they went with some sort of stunt track. I took the magnet out because they kept sticking together.

New Car Wars motorcycles

Two cycles in 28mm or 1/48 or whatever scale you want to call it. They are both hot wheels. The green one was from a thrift shop, and I couldn't find much info on it from the inter webs. For game purposes, it will count as having an armored top. The red one is the Batcycle. I swapped his head and hacked off his cape. To cover the cape hack, I used a mantic deadzone bit to cover it and make it look like he has some type of armor. (Bullets are flying, after all.) I also used press molded mantic enforcer shields to add armor to the front.

Up close of the not dark knight.

And here are two wrecks I whipped up to use as cover or obstacles.
Thanks for visiting, questions and comments are welcome as always.

Long overdue Car Wars update

With the release of Fury Road, PA gamers all over the world have been pulled back to their favorite of genres. I too could not resist the call after seeeing that movie, and while souring the net for all things with cars and guns, I noticed two things. First,  Axels and Alloys have an updated version of thier rules.

Second I missed posting some pictures of finished Car Wars cars I had posted WIPs of in this here blog. So Here ya go!

Car Wars Police Interceptor

The finished Police Interceptor.

This car was inspired by this entry in the Car Wars supplement "Midville- The Toughest Little Town in America":
I don't know why, but this has always been in my mind as a car I wanted to model someday. My version is based off of a Viper (Disney version, lol) that I purchased at a Goodwill store. I left off the extra tires, but tried to represent everything else. The armor, weapon housing and wheel hubs are sculpted. The lights are smooth red craft gems. I painted it to look like its come back from a tough night on patrol, but not on purpose. It's helping camouflage my horrid sculpting skills. I still need to find a suitable door decal (or paint my own) and I plan on re-painting the lettering. Dry rub transfers are not your friend on anything that's not flat. I'm pleased with it, and it has spurred me into sculpting and casting the patrol cars in the future.

Car Wars for the Girls

After our Easter Axles and Alloys  game, my other kids decided they wanted their own cars.

My daughter Allison loves pickup trucks and the color purple, so I whipped up this one for her. The truck is a 1:43 slot car that was clearance at Hobby Lobby. The weapons are form Testors Overdrive arena, the armor plate is Apoxie sculpt.

Elise wanted a pink Monster High car...(*sigh*) the things we do for our children. Really this was fun, she took a lot of interest in the build and directed the paint job. This is the other car from the Overdrive Arena boxed set, with all the stock armor that comes with it.

Now we need another battle; maybe try out another rule set...

Post your reaction,

Dropped Weapons

I made these for the myriad of car combat games I am play testing. They are drop weapon markers representing oil, mines and spikes. We used teddy bear stuffing for smoke. The oil was the most impressive creation, it uses 2 part resin (Pour-on) colored with ink and pastels. The mines are buttons with plastic card on top, and the spikes are chunks of sprue. I like those the least, but a simple solution for a "true" spike eluded me and this was a simpler alternative.

Enjoy your Sunday,
